Description
Irish Ogham staves are one of the oldest forms of Celtic divination, based on the ancient Irish tree alphabet. Invented over 1,500 years ago and found throughout Ireland, the four nations of Britain, and the Isle of Man, each symbol is connected to a tree or plant species. Used for guidance, insight, and connection to the natural world, they remain a meaningful divination tool today.
Working with Irish Ogham Staves
Each set is carved by hand from wood I personally gather from my garden or the orchard beside me here in Australia. Working with the natural rhythms of the moon and seasons, every piece carries its own unique grain, energy, and story. No two sets are ever the same, making each one a deeply personal and meaningful tool for your practice.
Carved under the Full Moon, Apricot symbolises loyal love, luck, and happiness. As I worked, I also infused each piece with the intentions of courage, care, and strength.
These Irish Ogham staves carry Apricot’s warmth, happiness, and abundance, bringing a strong feminine energy to each piece and to your divination work. They are designed to be held, worked with, and returned to over time – a quiet companion in your readings and a way to deepen your connection to both land and self.
Each set includes 25 hand-carved staves, representing the full Ogham alphabet, and comes ready for use in your divination practice.
How to use your Oghams:
There is no single “right” way to work with Ogham. Like many ancient systems, it is something deeply personal – a quiet conversation between yourself, the symbols, and the stories they carry.
Some people like to sit quietly with their staves before beginning, perhaps lighting a candle, making a warm cup of tea, or simply taking a few slow breaths. Others prefer to use them more casually, pulling a stave whenever they feel drawn to guidance or reflection.
You may wish to ask a question, focus on a situation, or simply ask:
“What do I need to know right now?”
Gently mix the staves in your hands or pouch, then intuitively draw one or more.
Each stave carries layers of meaning – connected to trees, sounds, nature, symbolism, and old Celtic wisdom. Sometimes the message may feel obvious immediately. Other times it may slowly unfold over the coming days.
There is no need to rush interpretation. Sit with the stave, notice what feelings or thoughts arise, and trust your own intuition alongside the guide meanings provided.
Some simple ways to work with your staves include:
- Drawing a single stave for daily guidance
- Drawing three staves for past, present, and future
- Journalling your thoughts and reflections
- Using the staves during meditation or moon rituals
- Connecting with the tree energies connected to each symbol
Most importantly – allow your relationship with the Ogham to grow naturally over time.
Care and Use:
To cleanse, use a smoke/herb cleansing stick in a well-ventilated area, away from children, pets, and those with chest conditions. Alternatively, place your bag on your Selenite charging plate overnight. Please ensure you keep your Ogham staves dry. To clean, simply wipe lightly with a damp cloth.
Please also ensure you keep all pieces out of reach of children. These are spiritual tools, not toys, and are not to be used as such.
