Moving to NSW as a teenager and experiencing the cultural diversity between first nation Countries as well as our wider multicultural community I was able to grow and appreciate all of my cultural connections.” — Reena S

Timeika “Reena” Slockee is a local Indigenous artist, descended from the Bardi & Yawuru people of Western Australia, Gumbaynggirr & Bundjalung nations the north coast of NSW, and Yuin nation of the south coast of NSW. Her art started a few years ago, and encouraged & supported by her loved ones, Reena’s skill, inspiration, and knowledge has just bloomed! Alongside the natural landscape, animals, and ocean-life, Reena’s mother, sister, uncles, and great-grandfather have all played an enormous part in inspiring Reena throughout her creative journey.

It is such a pleasure and honour to be working alongside Reena in our collaboration. I find myself learning so so much! Being there in person whilst she paints – wow, it is just the most peaceful and grounding of times. Each artwork is full of who she is – connected to Country, her Ancestors, & family, skillfully using both traditional and modern mediums, with her softness and tranquil energies all gracefully ingrained throughout.
